Trek Ambassador Race Report: Lincoln Carolan at the ELEV8XCM 8 hour Marathon

Lincoln Carolan is a Trek Ambassador through our dealer in Cairns, Discovery Cycles. Here's a report from an 8 Hr MTB race he competed in recently in Atherton, QLD:
On Sunday the 25th of August, I competed in the ELEV8XCM 8 hour Marathon hosted by the Tablelands Cyclesports Cycling Club in Atherton (Far North QLD).  I participated in the 8 hour solo category in veterans class.
I rode the 2013 Trek Superfly 100 AL Pro for the duration, clocking up 131kms and climbing 2000m of elevation during my 12 laps of a very technical, Glen Jacobs (World Trail) designed course.
Atherton MTB Park was the host of the 2013 XCM Championships and was described by some of the professional riders as 'too difficult'.
Discovery Cycles Smithfield owners Larry and Stacey Lanza were present for the event and provided support and much needed encouragement during the event.
I am proud to announce that I placed 5th in my category (veterans) and 7th overall, my best placing in a MTB event.
I would like to thank Trek Australia for the opportunity to represent your world class products and Discovery Cycles Smithfield for their continued support of myself and cycling in the Cairns area.
Attached is a photograph of me during one of the many painful climbs.  Sorry I'm not smiling :)

Nice job Lincoln! Good Luck in the future race's!
