Noosaville Trek dealer Venture Cycles has been supporting young local downhill mountain biker Antony Moore over the last year or so and he has been ripping it up on a Trek Session 88. Last year at the World MTB Championships in Canberra Antony achieved an outstanding 10th place in the U19 category and over this summer he has been competing in the National Series and National Championships.
After finishing 4th at the first round in Hobart he was hoping for a podium finish at the National Champs. Practice and qualifying went well for him with a solid top 10 qualifying result, and plenty left in the tank for the final. Finals got underway, and Antony's run was going well. His split showed him on track for a podium finish. However, Antony came unstuck towards the bottom of the course with a heavy crash. He got up and rolled down the rest of the track to finish a disappointing 31st. Later X-Ray's showed that he had actually broken his hand.
While the end result was not what was hoped, at least he can see that he is riding up there with the best of them. Antony missed the next National round in Shepparton but is hoping to be back by the round in Thredbo.
Rest up Antony and good luck at Thredbo!
